St. Louis lawyer David Wasinger wins GOP primary for Missouri lieutenant governor

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — St. Louis lawyer David Wasinger has been nominated as the GOP candidate for Missouri lieutenant governor. Wasinger won Tuesday’s primary by slim margins. Republican state Sen. Lincoln Hough was a close second in the crowded field. It was too early to call the lieutenant governor’s GOP primary Tuesday. Wasinger is favored to win the November general election against Democratic state Rep. Richard Brown in the heavily GOP state where no Democrats currently serve in any statewide office. Wasinger is also a certified public accountant. He lost the Republican primary for state auditor in 2018.
