Nearly 183 pounds of medicine collected at drug takeback event

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Police Department announced in a press release that preliminary totals indicate about 183 pounds of medicine was collected during a drug takeback event this past weekend.

This weekend’s collection raises the total from the last three events to more than 530 pounds of medicine, according to a press release.

The event was part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s 24th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The DEA and its partners collected tablets, capsules patches and other solid forms of prescription drugs, according to a press release
