COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
16 -year-old Tavan Eric Williams-Patrick, the third teenager accused of being involved in a deadly Columbia shooting was charged as an adult Friday morning.
An adult certification hearing was scheduled for 9 a.m. at the Boone County Courthouse. Police believe the Williams Patrick was involved in the deadly shooting of 15-year-old Aubry Doxley on McKee Street in February.
Two other teens, 16-year-old Samarion Robins and 17-year-old Oscar Ashford Jr., have been certified as adults in the case. The Boone County Prosecutor's Office charges Robins, Ashford and Willams-Patrick all with felony counts of second-degree murder, armed criminal action, and unlawful use of a weapon in Doxley's death.
The juvenile office argued multiple points on Friday as to why it felt the Willams-Patrick should be charged as an adult. William-Patrick lawyer argued that Willams-Patrick cooperated and that he was also a victim because he was shot as well.
On Saturday, February 19, police officers responded to the 1800 block of McKee Street for reports of a shooting.
Investigators said a boy was taken by personal vehicle to a hospital. Another man declined treatment for his injuries at the scene.
Police said officers found Doxley suffering from a gunshot in her home. Emergency crews took her to a hospital where she died.
A witness told investigators they saw Robins and two others leave a party together in a car, but only Robins and one other person returned, according to court documents. The witness reportedly overheard Robins and another person talk about the shooting after returning to the party.
Ashford Jr. and Robins are both being held in the Boone County Jail on a $1 million cash-only bond.
