Columbia man treated for serious injuries after moped crash

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man was treated for serious injuries Tuesday night after a moped crash north of Columbia.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 63 north of Calvert Hill Road.

Troopers said William V. Barnhart, 66, was thrown from the moped after an SUV driven by Raymond C. Wood, 53, of Clarence, Missouri, hit him.

An ambulance took Barnhart to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.

ABC 17 News is told he's in critical condition.

According to the crash report, Barnhart wasn't wearing a helmet.

Wood wasn't hurt in the crash.
