Fulton school board to settle tied election this week

FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)

The winner of the final seat on the Fulton Board of Education will be determined when the board meets Wednesday.

The Callaway Couty clerk this week certified the results of the June 2 election. Voters in the Fulton Public Schools district were asked to pick three school board members out of a field of four candidates.

Two of those candidates, Todd Gray and Joe Davis, tied to fill the third slot.

FPS spokeswoman Karen Sneathen said the candidates have agreed to draw lots to settle the race, which is allowed under state late. Their names will be put into a container and a school board member will draw one of them.

The first- and second-place candidates in Tuesday's election are Emily Omohundro and Connie Epperson.

FPS voters also approved a $27.5 million bond issue in the June 2 election.

The board meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Fulton High School.
