Tuscumbia man charged with murder

Miller County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Tuscumbia man in connection with a fatal shooting.

Deputies were called to an address on Highway 52 in Tuscumbia at about 6 p.m. Monday and found Dalton Cain Bishop, 18, of Barnett dead from a shotgun wound to the chest, according to court documents and a news release from the Miller County Sheriff’s Office.

Larry M. Matthews, 41, admitted under interrogation that he shot Bishop, a detective wrote in a probable cause statement. Deputies found the shotgun used in the shooting inside the residence, the statement said.

Matthews is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He was being held Tuesday at the Miller County Adult Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
