Tracking strong storms possible this afternoon

STORMS

WEDNESDAY: Showers and thunderstorms are moving in from the north this morning. How far south these make it will determine who might see some stronger storms this afternoon. Current thinking is that anywhere from the I-70 corridor and south will be under the gun to redevelop storms after midday with all severe threats in play. This is a pretty fluid situation with a few moving parts so stay up to date with the latest forecast throughout the day. We'll have an Insider Blog updated with those details throughout the day here.

TONIGHT: Any storms will dissipate after sunset as lows fall into the low 70’s.

EXTENDED: Most of us are looking dry tomorrow with a slight chance of a shower down near the I-44 corridor. Temperatures will top out around 90 with a heat index in the middle to upper 90’s. We warm up a few degrees more by Friday, into the middle to upper 90’s. That pushes heat indices into the triple digits for the weekend. This looks like the hottest weather we’ve seen so far and will be tough to shake. Be sure to take it easy this weekend and drink plenty of water—this kind of heat can wear you down with it being so long-lived. It looks like it will be with us to start out next week, too.
