Tracking increasing chances for showers and storms throughout the day

TODAY: I'm tracking light showers for some during the earlier hours of the morning as temperatures begin in the upper 60s and low 70s. Chances for showers and storms will be increasing throughout the day, beginning to the west and south of Columbia, extending east by the afternoon hours. This will make for a rainier rest of the forecast as temperatures warm into the low 80s, potentially still feeling closer to 90 with the humidity. Winds will be out of the southeast at 10-15 mph, gusting up to 20 mph.

TONIGHT: I'm tracking isolated to scattered showers and storms continuing overnight as temperatures drop back down into the low 70s. Winds will shift into the southwest at 5-10 mph, gusting up to 15 mph.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking another round of showers and storms on Monday, with the most consistent system moving through areas along and south of I-70 during the morning and early afternoon hours. By the late afternoon hours, mostly dry time can be expected as temperatures warm into the low 80s, still feeling closer to 90. One more round of activity could be expected Monday night into early Tuesday morning before sunshine returns Tuesday afternoon, helping temperatures get into the low 90s. This will start a hot stretch, as temperatures each afternoon moving forward will get into the upper 80s and low 90s, with heat index values approaching 100 on Tuesday through Thursday. By Thursday afternoon, rain and storm chances make a return, and these are expected to last into the weekend.
