The Southern Boone County Fire Protection District is investigating after a fire broke out in a southern Boone County garage early Monday.

According to dispatch records, fire crews were called to 950 E. Calvin Drive between Hartsburg and Ashland at 4:10 a.m. and were on the scene for more than two hours.

An ABC 17 reporter saw six fire trucks and a University of Missouri ambulance at the scene just before 5 a.m.

Heavy flames were coming from the medium-sized shop building when firefighters arrived, Deputy Fire Chief Colin Wright wrote in an email. The cause is under investigation.

The building was a total loss and firefighters were at the scene until about 10 a.m., Wright said.
