BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
No one was hurt in a house fire Tuesday off of Route E in Boone County in the 5500 block of West Tracy Court, according to Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp.
Blomenkamp stated that when crews arrived on scene, extensive damage was already done to the South and backside of the house. Blomenkamp also said that the cause of the fire was likely due to an electrical malfunction.
"Fairly obvious where it started, and so with that unfortunately it's going to be a total loss because it did burn through the roof of the structure tonight," Blomenkamp said.
Estimated damage, according to Blomenkamp, is about $350,000.
The fire was reported by someone who wasn't a resident of the house. Blomenkamp said that no one was inside of the house when the fire started.
"The call was made by a passerby and some neighbors called it in. We had early notification, as early as we could get. Unfortunately, it was an advanced fire when we arrived," Blomenkamp said.
Route E was closed off by first responders throughout the response and was reopened at 8:58 p.m. Blomenkamp noted the road needed to be closed down because of the placement of the nearest fire hydrant.
"The issue is with the hydrant on the West side of the road and the house is on the East side and so when you have hoses strung across the highway, we've got to close it down," Blomenkamp said.
