Tracking afternoon showers with Tuesday night storms
TODAY: Monday is a mild and dry start to what will become an increasingly warm and active week. Temperatures top out just near 80, with low humidity, which will have us feeling pleasant under partly cloudy skies today. Chances of showers increase into the afternoon hours before drying up this evening.
TONIGHT: Skies clear overnight, and temperatures fall into the 60s, as increasingly south winds keep us a hair warmer.
EXTENDED: South winds then become the rule rather than the exception, on Tuesday, as we warm into the low-to-mid 90s amid dew points in the low 70s. This has us feeling like low triple digits by Tuesday afternoon. Prep for a hot, but a dry day, ahead of storms that return that night. A cold front will move in after sunset Tuesday night, bringing storms with it. Currently, severe storms are unlikely for most, but early in the night, as these storms approach our western counties, they may hold enough strength for an initial wind threat. These storms are expected to quickly weaken as they arrive. Wednesday could see morning showers, and renewed storm chances in the afternoon as the front lingers nearby. We'll likely be a hair cooler on Wednesday, but highs are still forecast in the upper 80s. Exact temperature and dewpoint numbers will vary greatly depending on front location. July 4th is Thursday, and Independence day will see the front lift to the north as a warm front, just before a cold front works in again from the west. This keeps a decent chance for storms through the day, with a chance at a break in the afternoon and early evening. If you get rained out Thursday, drier conditions look to return over the weekend.
