Tracking a pleasant and cool Monday followed by big warm up Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly clear with a few clouds and lows in the lower 60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with low humidity and a slight breeze. Highs in the upper 70s to around 80.

EXTENDED: It's been a gorgeous day with high pressure keeping us much cooler and more comfortable to close out the weekend. Below average temperatures continue tomorrow along with low dew points, making for a pleasant start to the week. As moisture starts to stream in during the day, we could end up with more clouds by afternoon. As the upper high pressure ridge moves east, a more active pattern sets up for much of the area through most of the week, and a strong south flow will allow temperatures to rise into the mid-90s on Tuesday. As dew points creep up, heat indices could range between 100-104 on Tuesday. The air becomes increasingly unstable to the south of a cold front that will be situated to our north, and we'll see a chance for storms on Tuesday night. A few of those storms could be strong, especially north of I-70. We could end up seeing several rounds of showers and storms as this boundary wavers across the region, including rain or storms that will linger from Wednesday into Thursday and could impact outdoor holiday plans. Rain amounts for the week are looking hefty, on the order of 1-2". Next weekend is looking drier as upper high pressure returns to the area.
