Tracking triple digit heat indices and storms by tomorrow evening

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and mild with lows near 70.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny, hot, and humid with highs in the low to mid-90s with a heat index between 100-102. Storms move in from north to south in the evening, and some could be severe north of Highway 24.

EXTENDED: Tonight we remain quite warm with lows only dipping to about 70 degrees. Tomorrow will be the hottest day of the week with a high near 95 and a heat index anywhere from 100-102. Storms move in from the north between about 6:00 p.m. And midnight as a cold front slides south, but the highest impact will be across northern Missouri with the threat of large hail and damaging winds. By the time storms reach the I-70 corridor between 10:00 p.m. and midnight, they should be losing most of their punch. Friday is a little cooler and less humid with highs in the upper 80s and a chance for a storm or two to the south. Heat ramps up again for the weekend as that front lifts back north, bringing a chance for storms across northern sections of the area yet again, along with highs in the low 90s and a heat index in the upper 90s. Sunday will feel like around 100-101 and will carry a chance for isolated storms. Monday is looking like a very hot start to the week as temperatures top out near 95 with a heat index between 102-104. We'll see a chance for more rain and storms on Tuesday, and that could bring temperatures down a hair, but the overall upper pattern is stubborn and doesn't shift much at all next week.
