Tracking severe storms tonight, much colder Tuesday

TONIGHT: Scattered to widespread storms, some could be severe with very large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes along with heavy rain. The severe threat ends by around midnight, with lows falling into the upper 40s.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers and colder with temperatures remaining in the upper 40s with gusty winds.

EXTENDED: A warm front has lifted north of Mid-Missouri, allowing the atmosphere to continue to destabilize despite the ongoing light rain. Storms could quickly become severe this afternoon into this evening, bringing the threat of up to baseball size hail, 70+ mph winds, and a strong tornado or two through midnight as a cold front pushes in. Rain amounts could exceed 1.5" to 2" with localized flooding possible. A few light showers will stick around in the wake of low pressure tomorrow with gusty winds up to 25 mph. It will be chilly with highs only reaching the upper 40s during the day. We'll clear out but be cooler than normal for the middle of the week as temperatures only make the low to mid-50s with sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will be warmer as temperatures get back into the lower 60s. The weekend starts off dry with highs in the upper 60s on Saturday, but a front could bring a chance for a few showers and storms between Saturday night and Sunday.
