Tracking a soggy weekend, more rain next week

TODAY: Showers are likely this morning with more scattered rain by the afternoon. Highs reach the mid-60s. Rain and thunderstorms move in by the late evening and continue overnight along and south of I-70.

TOMORROW: Sunday kicks off with showers and storms with another rainy afternoon. Highs warm just a little through all the showers, reaching the low to mid-70s. Chances for heavy rain and thunderstorms increase Sunday night into Monday.

EXTENDED: Just about every day this week will feature a chance for rain and/or storms as each round will leave a remnant boundary for another round of precipitation to develop. The upper-level pattern will be supportive of daily rain chances and warmer temperatures each day into next week. Severe weather chances look slim, but if we have any type of support it would be late next week. Highs by next Friday reach 80 degrees with consistent nights in the 60s. Minor river flooding especially on smaller rivers and tributaries will be possible, but the River Forecast Center has not issued any guidance as of now. Rain amounts for the combined week will be in the 2-3" ballpark.
