Tracking one last quiet day before storms return tomorrow

clouds returning

TUESDAY: We’ll get treated to some more sunshine starting off the day. Clouds will start to increase into the afternoon, but highs will still make it to near 80 with winds out of the south.

TONIGHT: Rain chances return after midnight, and look to favor areas north of I-70. That southerly breeze and added cloud cover will keep lows in the 60’s.

EXTENDED: A few rumbles of thunder will be possible with that first batch moving in early Wednesday morning, but those storms should be weakening. It’s another one of those situations where if we clear them out sooner, another round of storms could become strong by the afternoon. A frontal boundary will sweep through, firing storms after 2 PM and sliding east throughout the afternoon and evening. If we can add enough energy to the atmosphere by then, damaging wind gusts could be a threat we’re tracking. The storms will move out by 10 PM but the showers will linger through Thursday. That will keep us much cooler, with highs only reaching the upper 50’s. We bounce back nicely Friday, with highs nearing 70 with the return of sunshine. We’re tracking another disturbance that will bring more showers late Friday into Saturday morning, but look tame. Highs on Saturday will be slightly cooler, in the 60’s but bounce back again Sunday into the 70’s.
