Tracking rain chances returning this week

RAIN TONIGHT

MONDAY: Clouds have returned this morning. A stray sprinkle will be possible this morning, but most will stay dry. Temperatures will threaten 70 in a few spots this afternoon, despite mostly cloudy skies. Winds out of the south, gusting at times to 25 mph will help pick up the slack.

TONIGHT: Showers will move in tonight around 9-10 PM and stay with us overnight. Overnight lows will only fall into the low 50’s with abundant cloud cover and southeast winds.

EXTENDED: Showers will stick around through the morning commute, but should clear the area towards 9-10 AM. This opens the door to try to destabilize enough to fire up another round of storms into the afternoon with another slow-moving system. This would pose a low-end severe threat, with some hail and a brief spin-up tornado possible. The rain threat finally clears by Tuesday evening. Wednesday is looking quiet for most of the day but another system approaches overnight. Rain will be on the increase late Wednesday night through Thursday before wrapping up Friday morning. Only expecting showery activity with this one, but could lead to a renewed round of river flooding by the weekend. Temperatures this week will bounce around in the upper 50’s and low 60’s after today, with the coolest day Thursday with rain around. The weekend’s looking okay so far, but a few showers could zip through before sunrise Saturday.
