Tracking the return of rain to Mid-Missouri

showers

WEDNESDAY: Scattered showers will greet some of us heading out the door this morning. It doesn’t look like anything heavy, but enough to use the windshield wipers heading to work or school. That will thin out more this afternoon, with a little late day sun possible, as temperatures warm into the low 70’s. Winds will be an issue again today, with gusts up to 40 mph possible.

TONIGHT: A cold front start to sink southward, firing up some storms around midnight. One or two could get on the strong side, with some gusty winds and hail possible in the strongest parts. Lows will fall into the mid to upper 50’s.

EXTENDED: The rain starts to dwindle towards the afternoon, but never clears the area. Temperatures will sink into the 50’s by the afternoon, as the bulk of the rain moves toward the I-44 corridor. Another slug of moisture moves into the region on Friday, bringing more widespread showers and a rumble of thunder possibly. That could spill over into the overnight hours Saturday before backing off during the day. Rain chances will stick around, but the coverage will become thinner to start the weekend. Another round of showers and storms will move in Sunday with the exact timing still up in the air. Those will push through by Monday but a few leftover showers will be possible as we start to dry out next week. Temperatures will bounce around in the upper 40’s and low 50’s through the weekend and into next week.
