Tracking triple digit heat indices and severe storm potential

TODAY: Thursday is hot and sunny, with highs reaching the low-to-mid 90s. Humidity will be high enough to get our heat index, or feels like temperature, to nearly 100 degrees.

TONIGHT: Thursday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day as a cold front moves in from the north around 7 p.m. in Macon county, making it to Moberly closer to 9 p.m. and near Columbia and I-70 by 10 p.m. Our primary concerns will be for wind and hail, with the strongest storms in the north. EXTENDED: Friday looks sunny and slightly cooler, with a high near 90 and lesser humidity. We may see a shower Friday night, but otherwise, we're dry. A warm front lifts north on Saturday, bringing a chance for a spot thunderstorm, but otherwise, we're mostly dry. Sunday is noticeably warmer, with a chance for an isolated thunderstorm. Expect highs in the low 90s, with enough humidity to have us feel like triple digits again for Father's day. We'll also have a chance for an isolated thunderstorm. This forecast repeats on Monday, nearly identically. Heat and humidity likely continues through next week.
