Severe storm chances this afternoon lasting overnight

TODAY: Tuesday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. For the latest, click here. Temperatures will climb to near 90 today, with abundant sunshine and a steady 10-20 mph south breeze, gusting to 40. Storms likely hold off until around 4 p.m. in the west near Brunswick to Warsaw. These will spread across the region through the evening bringing a threat for all types of severe weather through midnight when they exit near Rolla and Owensville.

TONIGHT: Temperatures will cool behind the cold front driving these storms. We'll likely fall into the upper 50s by early Wednesday morning. Rain will likely end by midnight.

EXTENDED: Wednesday morning will be crisp and dry, but showers may return by mid-morning as rain drifts north of the front as storms stay south of I-44. No severe weather is expected. Skies will be partly cloudy in the morning and afternoon, outside of previously mentioned rain chances. Highs will likely get stuck in the low-to-mid 70s. Thursday is warmer, but potentially still in the upper 70s to just near 80 under partly cloudy skies as winds return from the south. The end of the week and the weekend look active, with nearly daily rain chances from Friday through Sunday. These are likely thunderstorm chances, but any clear severe threat is yet to be seen. Temperatures will stick in the 80s through the rest of the forecast.
