Tracking Tuesday showers and an active weekend ahead

TODAY: Showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast today. Spotty showers will be north of I-70 this morning, with a development of showers and thunder as a cold front pushes through, south of I-70. We all have a chance for rain today, but it likely isn't much more than a tenth or two of an inch. Temperatures reach the upper 60s this afternoon.

TONIGHT: We'll clear overnight, and temperatures return to the low 40s.

EXTENDED: Wednesday is sunny, with a north breeze. We'll start Thursday the same, but increasing clouds and a chance for rain returns for some, especially in the south, by midday. These rain chances come along a warm front that turns winds from the south overnight as showers and thunderstorms overspread the area. Morning storms linger on Friday, but eventually clear northeast. Another round of storms is expected later in the day, and could prove quite potent. Details on when and where are fuzzy, but ingredients for severe weather remain in place for Friday, and could cause issues, so stay tuned to the forecast for Friday. Either way, expect storms and a high in the 70s. We'll be drier and warm on Saturday, with highs in the 80s under partly cloudy skies. Expect more chances for storms Saturday night and Sunday.
