Tracking continued chances for isolated storms, heat, and humidity
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-60s. An isolated shower or storm is possible.
TOMORROW: Partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 70s. Isolated showers and storms possible in the afternoon.
EXTENDED: We'll see another chance for isolated to scattered storms tomorrow afternoon, but with a high pressure ridge right over us, the western edge will be the hot spot for development for the next several days. As the jet stream lifts north, temperatures rise into the 80s by Thursday and eventually climb into the mid-80s by the end of the weekend. Rain chances look slim by the end of the week as we'll be under high pressure, but this ridge starts to break down a little next week, opening the door to more disturbances that could bring a chance of rain or storms. Overall, I'm expecting less than an inch of additional rainfall for the area through the weekend, but there could be locally higher amounts if those areas get underneath a brief thunderstorm. The trend into the next week and a half continues to look warmer than average with near normal precipitation for this time of year. River levels will go up by Thursday, reaching minor flood stage on the Missouri River at Hermann and Chamois. Jefferson City will stay below action stage.
