Tracking a few storms tomorrow night, rain through the weekend

TONIGHT: Increasing clouds and breezy with lows in the upper 50s. Winds up to 20 mph from the south. A few spotty showers are possible, but most areas remain dry overnight.

TOMORROW: Partly to variably cloudy with gusty southwest winds up to 30 mph. Highs in the low 70s with a spot shower or storm possible. Storms are more likely across northwest and northern Missouri late Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

EXTENDED: A cold front moving into northwest Missouri tomorrow evening will be the focal point for rain and a few thunderstorms through the end of the week. There will be a meager amount of instability across western and northwest Missouri overnight, lending to a marginal threat for a few strong storms that could contain small hail, gusty winds, and heavy rain. The best chance for this will be north of Highway 24, and mainly west of Highway 65 after about 11PM Wednesday. As the front slowly sinks south, rain chances will go with it into Thursday. Showers are likely for much of Mid-Missouri through the day Thursday into Friday, with better chances south of I-70 through Friday evening as the front gets across southern Missouri. We get a brief break with much more sparse precipitation on Saturday, but temperatures will cool down into the upper 40s for highs. Another strong cut off low pressure system will track over southwest Missouri and northern Arkansas Saturday evening into Sunday, bringing widespread cold rain to the area for most of Sunday. Temperatures warm up a bit Monday with highs getting back into the low 50s. Rain amounts Wednesday night through Sunday will amount to about 2-4", but flash flooding isn't expected to be an issue since the waves of rain will be spaced out.
