Mizzou guard officially enters transfer portal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A fourth member of last season's Mizzou Men's Basketball team is putting their name in the transfer portal. A team spokesperson confirmed to ABC 17 Sports on Monday night that John Tonje has officially entered the portal.

Tonje transferred to the Tigers last offseason after playing the first four years of his college career at Colorado State. However, the graduate student's first season at Mizzou was cut short due to a foot injury. Tonje was ruled out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season in mid-January after making just eight appearances.

The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 2.6 points and 0.9 rebounds per game last season and appeared in the starting lineup four times. Tonje scored a season-best five points against SIUE and Jackson State. He also played a season-high 19 minutes in that five-point effort against the Cougars.

Tonje is the fourth Tiger to enter the transfer portal this offseason, joining Mabor Majak, Curt Lewis and Jesus Carralero Martin.
