Mizzou lands second transfer portal pickup of offseason

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Dennis Gates and his coaching staff have secured another commitment out of the transfer portal. Tony Perkins is committing to the Mizzou Men's Basketball program, per a post on his Instagram account.

The Iowa transfer was ranked as the No. 55 player and No. 12 point guard in the portal, according to 247 Sports. He chose Mizzou over several other programs, including Indiana, Oregon, Ole Miss, Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Perkins is bringing plenty of experience with him to Columbia. The 6-foot-5 senior played in 126 games over his four seasons at Iowa and was in the starting lineup 81 times. Over his college career, he has shot 43.9% from the field and 31.7% from three-point range. During the 2023-24 season, Perkins averaged 14.0 points per game, 4.4 rebounds per game and posted 158 assists in 34 appearances.

Perkins joins Jacob Crews, who was a consensus top-50 transfer, as the second player out of the portal to join Mizzou Men's Basketball this offseason.
