Mizzou outscored by 20 points in second half, loses 11th straight game

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Despite trailing by just four points at the break, a lackluster second half doomed Mizzou Men's Basketball 75-51 against Mississippi State. The Bulldogs outscored the Tigers 45-25 in the second half, handing Dennis Gates' crew its 11th straight loss.

Mississippi State began the second half on a 25-6 scoring run, and during that almost nine-minute stretch, the Tigers only made one field goal. Mizzou's 51 points in this contest set a new season-low.

Nick Honor and Tamar Bates were the only Tigers to finish this game in double figures. Honor scored a team-high 15 points, and he was the only Mizzou player who made a three-pointer. Bates finished with 11 points and grabbed six rebounds.

As a team, Mizzou shot just 34% from the field and 17% from three-point range. Gates' group also committed a season-high 20 turnovers as Mississippi State posted 15 steals in this contest.

Up next - The Tigers will have a week to prepare for a trip to Oxford. Mizzou faces Ole Miss on the road on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
