Mizzou’s Rakestraw gets drafted in the second round

DETROIT, Mich. (KMIZ)

Mizzou cornerback Ennis Rakestraw became the second Tiger taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, after the Detroit Lions took him off the board with the No. 61 overall pick in the second round on Friday night.

Rakestraw is the first MU player taken by the Lions since Demetrious Johnson went to the Motor City in 1983.

The Texas native started in 32 of the 36 games that he played in in Columbia. In 2023, he tallied 35 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and four pass breakups. He was, however, limited to just nine games in his redshirt junior season due to an injury.

Through his four years in Columbia, he racked up 107 total tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 24 pass deflections and one interception.

Rakestraw joins his teammate Darius Robinson in Tigers to be taken, so far, in the 2024 NFL Draft.
