Mizzou baseball gets run-ruled in series finale against No. 25 Texas A&M

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Despite having a chance to steal a conference win against another top-25 opponent, the Tigers fell to Texas A&M, 14-3, getting swept in run rule fashion.

The Aggies were the first team onto the board for the third time in the weekend, which started with a four run second inning. The bleeding didn't stop there however, as A&M went on to score seven more runs in the third, and with that onslaught, the Aggies scored at least seven runs in an inning in each game in the series.

After falling behind 11-0, the Tigers managed to string together three runs across as many frames, thanks to a solo home run from shortstop Kam Durnin, and a two-run shot from first baseman Jase Woita in the bottom of the fifth.

Texas A&M managed to respond though, retaliating with three scores of their own, and extending the lead back to 11 in the top of the seventh. Mizzou couldn't respond as the game ends in a mercy rule stoppage, 14-3.

"I think there's some other opportunities we could have capitalized on, but, we're showing what our offensive potential is. But when you're chasing like that at times, it's tough to, to climb that mountain," said head coach Kerrick Jackson on the weekend series.

Up Next - Mizzou will host the second leg of a home-and-home series against Kansas on Tuesday, March 31. First pitch of the Border Showdown is set for 7 p.m.
