Mizzou freshman center enters the transfer portal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A team spokesperson confirmed that Mizzou men's basketball center Jordan Butler officially entered the transfer portal on Friday night.

The 7-foot freshman played in 30 games for head coach Dennis Gates, starting in 13 of those. He averaged 2.0 points and 1.9 rebounds per game and racked up 25 blocks through 2023-24 campaign.

The South Carolina native came to Columbia as a four-star recruit, after playing at Christ Church Episcopal School for five years. In high school, he led his Cavaliers to two state championships, in 2021 and 2023. He averaged 21.4 points, 9.8 rebounds, 3.4 blocks and 1.2 assists during his senior year.

Butler is the fifth Tiger from the 2023-24 team to hit the transfer portal. Center Mabor Majak, guard Curt Lewis, forward Jesus Carralero-Martin and guard John Tonje all announced their decision in recent weeks.
