Mizzou center becomes first Tiger hoops player to hit the portal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou center Mabor Majak became the first Tiger men's basketball player to enter the transfer portal, following the 2023-24 season, on Tuesday.

The 7-foot-2 senior has been with head coach Dennis Gates for his entire career, stretching back to his freshman season at Cleveland State in 2020-21. Majak spent two seasons in Columbia, getting more playing time in the 2023-24 season due to team injuries.

In his 24 appearances his senior year, the South Sudan-native averaged about seven minutes and 0.5 points and 1.2 boards per game.

Majak is the first Tiger player to enter the transfer portal after MU's worst conference finish in about a century, ending up 0-18 in SEC action.
