Mizzou softball goes 2-0 in day one of Tracy Beard College Classic

DENTON, Texas. (KMIZ)

The No. 14 Mizzou softball team is still undefeated to start the 2024 season. The Tigers won both games on opening day of the Tracy Beard College Classic in Texas, on Friday. With those wins, the team is now 7-0 to start the season.

In game one, head coach Larissa Anderson and company took down Texas A&M-Commerce 1-0 in a career day from sophomore pitcher Cierra Harrison. She registered her first-career no-hitter with eight strikeouts in the win.

MU also won game two against South Dakota State, 4-3. Pitcher Laurin Krings went five innings, allowing two runs with three strikeouts. Nathalie Touchet and Taylor Pannell finished out the final two innings in the circle, allowing just one more run across the plate.

Jenna Laird, Julia Crenshaw, Madison Walker and Kayley Lenger each tallied an RBI in the game two win.

Next up - Mizzou will meet South Dakota State, again, on Saturday morning. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. in Denton, Texas.
