Sunday Sit-down with Mizzou softball coach Larissa Anderson

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

ABC 17 Sports Director Nathalie Jones brought on Mizzou softball coach Larissa Anderson in this week's edition of Sunday Sit-down.

The pair previewed the upcoming 2024 campaign, as the season will kick off on Friday, Feb. 10. Anderson said she is very excited about the group she has the season.

"They're extremely focused," she said. "They feel like they underachieved last year, so there's kind of that chip on their shoulder and going out to try to prove something. It really starts with Laurin Krings in the circle. I mean, she's in her senior year and we have a dynamic senior class with Alex Honnold and Jenna Laird and, of course, Laurin Krings, but they're really setting the tone, their level of focus and their determination this year is pretty special."

Anderson said one of the big goals for her team is to get back to Super Regional action for the first time since hosting James Madison University at the Mizzou Softball Stadium in 2021. Several players on the 2024 roster were a part of that run, including Honnold and Laird.

In 2023, the Tigers clawed their way into the Norman Regional, where they faced the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners, however, Mizzou did not make it out of that regional.
