Show-Me State Games to host two tournaments over the weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Sho- Me State Games tournaments are scheduled to place over the weekend as local teams fight for the win.

For "Hoopin' it Up Basketball", 41 teams in total will be playing at the Columbia Sports Fieldhouse at 4251 Philips Farm Rd. There are 11 girls teams ranging from third grade through eighth grade and 30 boys teams ranging from fourth grade through eighth grade.

Organizers say medals will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division.

All spectators age 18 and over will need to pay an admission fee.

Weekend passes can be purchased for $10 dollars. Games are beginning at 9 a.m. and you can find the schedule here.

For "Spring Slam Volleyball" people can play in ten different divisions ranging from 11 and under to women or coed.

Organizers say games will be played at several locations around Columbia.

According to the Show-Me State Games, more than 1 million people have participated in the Show Me State Games in its 38 years of existence and events have a direct economic impact of more than $6.5 million.
