QUESTION OF THE DAY: Can a Democrat win Missouri’s governor’s office?

A prominent Missouri Democrat entered the race for governor over the weekend.

House Minority Leader Crystal Quade of Springfield released a statement about her 2024 campaign and teased a Monday launch. Some prominent Republicans are already in the race, including Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe of Jefferson City and Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.

Democrats held several statewide offices in Missouri not long ago but Republicans have largely dominated the 21st century. Can a Democrat still win?
