Pedestrian killed in Phelps County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A pedestrian was killed just after midnight Tuesday after getting struck by a vehicle on Interstate 44, around mile marker 177 in Phelps County, according to a crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

According to the report, a 55-year-old man from Merriam Woods was walking westbound on Interstate 44 when he was hit by a 2022 Freightliner Cascadia and another tractor-trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the report says.

The freightliner was driven by a 47-year-old man from Norman, Oklahoma, and the other tractor-trailer was driven by a man whose age and origin was not disclosed in the report.
