Three people seriously hurt in Phelps County crash

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Five people were taken to the hospital, three with serious injuries, after a crash in Phelps County around 11:15 p.m. Sunday.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, a 17-year-old girl from Newburg, an 18-year-old man from Salem, an 18-year-old man from Rolla, a 20-year-old woman from Rolla and a 21-year-old man from Rolla were involved in the crash.

The report states the 18-year-old Salem man was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado on County Road 3060 about a quarter mile east of Rolla when the truck went off the right side of the road, hitting a mailbox and a tree.

The 21-year-old Rolla man was flown to University Hospital with serious injuries. The 20-year-old Rolla woman and the 17-year-old Newburg girl were also seriously injured and were taken by ambulance to Phelps Health Hospital.

The 18-year-old Rolla man and 18-year-old Salem man were taken to Phelps Health Hospital with minor injuries.

The report states that none of the people involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The Chevrolet was totaled.
