Molly’s Miles annual run underway Saturday at Molly Bowden Memorial Park

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The annual Molly's Miles 5k and 10k Run is scheduled to take place Saturday, and the city of Columbia is warning area travelers of the soft traffic impacts.

The annual run benefits the Missouri Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors and honors Officer Molly Bowden who was shot and killed during a traffic stop in 2005.

The run is scheduled to begin at Molly Bowden Memorial Park locatedat 900 W Nifong Blvd, Columbia, MO 65203. According to the event's website, the run will last from 8am until 10am.


For the 5k run, the course will start at Molly Bowden Memorial Park, travel down Forum Boulevard to Highlands PKWY and then to Eldson Drive.

From Eldson Drive, the course will travel Southampton Drive to Bethel Street, and back to Nifong.

For the 10k, the course travels down Nifong Boulevard to Glen Eagle Drive to Royal Lytham Drive, then to Eldson Drive. From Eldson Drive, the course then travels towards Forum Boulevard and over to North Cedar Lake Drive.

At that point, the 10k course finishes up traveling to Southhampton Drive to Bethel Street and back around to Nifong Boulevard.

The City of Columbia said there will be soft closures while runners are at intersections. Traffic will resume once the runners are finished Also, uniformed officers, along with trained volunteers will monitor traffic.

According to the city of Columbia, drivers can expect to see officers or volunteers at the intersections of Forum Boulevard and Southampton Drive, Southampton Drive and Bethel Street, Nifong Boulevard and Bethel Steet, as well as Forum Boulevard at the entrance to the parking lot.
