Multiple people shot in downtown Columbia early Sunday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department confirmed early Sunday morning that two people were shot, suffering non-life threatening injuries following a shooting downtown.

The shooting, happened just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning on 10th street outside of Harpos Bar and Grill.

Police blocked off 10th Street with crime scene tape from Cherry Street to Broadway, with officers at the scene searching the area with flashlights, placing evidence markers and speaking with witnesses on scene.

CPD's Crime Scene Investigation van was on scene as well, taking photos of the crime scene and collecting evidence.

One witness, Harry Whitehead said he was outside of Uprise Bakery when he heard anywhere from six to ten shots.

Whitehead said following the shooting he saw multiple people running away from the scene.

Police said they located multiple shell casings from at least two weapons at the scene but said they did not have anyone in custody in relation to the shooting.

Officers stated the investigation is still ongoing, as police are still working to gather more information.

The department opened 10th Street to traffic just after 3:30 Sunday morning.
