Man killed in Johnson County crash

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

One man is dead after crashing his SUV on 1256 North East 75 Rd. just west of Thompson Road in Johnson County on Wednesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crash Report, Lee G. Thomas, 48, of Knob Noster was traveling southbound on NE 75 Rd. just after 5:15 p.m. when the crash took place.

According to troopers, Thomas traveled off the left side of the road, hitting two fences and a tree. Highway Patrol says the debris from the crash hit a second unoccupied vehicle in the area.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash according to troopers.

The crash was Troop A's 36th fatality for 2023.
