JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The park on Adrian's Island in Jefferson City reopened Friday.

Jefferson City Parks and Recreation closed the park at 4 p.m. Thursday, citing the rising river's effects on Deborah Cooper Park.

The Missouri River at Jefferson City was in moderate flood stage Thursday afternoon. According to a Facebook post from the city, the Missouri River crested at 26.88 feet at 2 a.m. on Friday.

Officials initially expected the river to crest on Sunday at 27.6 feet. As of 9:45 p.m. on Friday, the river was at 26.06 feet.

The U.S. Coast Guard closed the Missouri River between St. Charles and Kansas City on Thursday due to dangerous conditions.
