JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Multiple road closures will be required in Downtown Jefferson City for the annual Salute To America festival on July 4, a press release from the Jefferson City Police Department says.

Road closures in Downtown Jefferson City will begin 6 a.m. Thursday and are expected to reopen by 2 a.m. Friday, the release says.

The festival runs from 2-11 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Broadway, 100 block of East High Street and around the Capitol grounds, JCPD’s release says.

The annual event includes a number of activities and entertainment, including a parade at 4 p.m., a food court, beer garden, bounce houses, Kidz Zone, a Birds of Prey exhibit at 3 p.m. and a classic car show.

The day ends with a fireworks show from 9:45-10 p.m., according to the fest’s website.

Salute to America is a 501c3, self-supporting corporation, funded by support from the community, county, city and state, according to its website.
