Suspicious envelope at state building determined to be not toxic

Officials are investigating a suspicious envelope at a state building in Jefferson City, according to the Office of Administration.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Officials determined a suspicious envelope at a state building in Jefferson City was not toxic.

The envelope was received at the Broadway Building mailroom around 11 a.m. Friday. The Broadway Building is located at 221 West High Street. All emergency personnel cleared the scene before 3 p.m.

Chris Moreland with the Office of Administration said HAZMAT teams' investigation was contained to the mail room.

The building was not evacuated as the envelope was contained to the mailroom. The scene has now been cleared.

Moreland said details are limited due to the ongoing investigation.
