Fire code violations close Jefferson City Dollar Tree

KMIZ VEDIT

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Authorities closed down the Dollar Tree store in Jefferson City on Monday after an inspection showed boxes were blocking the rear exit and causing a fire risk.

An inspection report dated Monday flagged those violations and also said boxes were blocking the electrical panels in the back of the store. Clutter also limited access to the fire sprinkler system, according to the report.

A Dollar Tree spokeswoman said the company treats customer and employee safety as "our first priority" and that the company is training its employees and working with the fire marshal to fix the problems.

The store remained closed Wednesday.
