Police: Juvenile arrested on suspicion of murder in April shooting death on Premier Lane in Columbia

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A minor was arrested on Wednesday in relation to the April shooting death of Derek Silvey, the Columbia Police Department said in a Wednesday social media post.

Police said the juvenile was arrested by Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies on suspicion of second-degree murder, tampering with evidence and felony stealing in the April 11 shooting.

Police wrote that there “are no outstanding suspects at this time.” Police initially said on April 12 that two juveniles were wanted in the case.

Silvey was the victim in the shooting in the 3300 block of Premier Lane in northeast Columbia.

According to previous reporting, one neighbor heard people yelling that night, then heard gunshots and people running. She said she saw Silvey on the ground and attempted to save his life by doing CPR until police arrived.
