A Lebanon, Ohio, man was charged on Wednesday with a pair of crimes in relation to a Tuesday evening crash on Scott Boulevard near West Bethany Drive.

John Douglas Casey, 27, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing physical injury and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. An initial court appearance was set for Wednesday afternoon. He was not listed on the Boone County Jail roster on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the probable cause statement, deputies found a Toyota Tundra with Ohio registration facing northbound in the southbound lane of Scott Boulevard, just north of West Belleview Drive. The Toyota was damaged, as well as a Mercedes-Benz that was facing south in the northbound lane, the statement says. The driver of that vehicle had scratches to their left arm and leg, the statement says.

Several people allegedly told deputies that they saw a man run away from the scene down West Bethany Drive, the statement says. Casey was eventually detained and a woman who was allegedly with him in the vehicle allegedly said that Casey was driving when he started having a seizure, the statement says.

Casey allegedly told deputies that he took Xanax and smoked weed earlier in the day, claimed he was not driving the Toyota and was not aware of a crash, the probable cause statement says. Court documents claim Casey had “multiple signs of impairment.”

The northbound lane of Scott Boulevard was shut down for about 50 minutes. Both vehicles in the crash were towed away.
