Jefferson City man charged with assault

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man was charged after he allegedly assaulted someone Saturday in the 2700 block of Industrial Boulevard.

Calen Mummert, 28, was charged on Monday with first-degree assault. He is being held at the Cole County Jail without bond. An arraignment was held Monday.

Court documents say Mummert caused serious injuries to the victim by striking them in the head.

According to a Monday press release sent from the Jefferson City Police Department, officers were called at 1:43 a.m. in reference to an assault that led to someone being knocked unconscious after an assault. The victim was brought to University Hospital with serious injuries, the statement says.

Mummert was eventually arrested.
