Jefferson City man charged with child molestation indicted by grand jury

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man who was charged with second-degree child molestation was indicted by a grand jury.

A warrant was issued for James Allen Dechant, 73, on Thursday, according to Casenet. He is accused of molesting a child younger than 12 years old on Jan. 11, according to the indictment.

Court records indicate that Dechant was denied a public defender on Feb. 1. He posted a $20,000 bond on Monday, according to Casenet. That bond is returnable by 10:30 a.m. Friday.

There is no bond set for the warrant issued on Thursday.
