Phelps County man charged with murder after allegedly stabbing two men, one fatally

ST. JAMES, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Phelps County man has been charged with murder after allegedly stabbing two men -- one fatally -- Tuesday in the 600 block of Saint David Street in St. James.

Joseph Duane Snow, 33, of St. James, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of armed-criminal action and first-degree assault. He is being held at the Phelps County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.

Luke Moreland died after being stabbed eight times, according to the probable cause statement. Another man, Jeffrey Pitts, was stabbed nine times. Snow was identified and fled in a red Chevrolet Impala, according to the statement.

Snow was detained and allegedly told law enforcement he stabbed both men during an argument, according to the probable cause statement.
