Jefferson City man charged with assault
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.
A Jefferson City man was charged with assault after allegedly knocking out a bouncer while being escorted from a bar and continuing to hit them once they were unconscious, according to the Jefferson City Police Department.
Jacob Logan Johnson, 27, is charged with second-degree assault. An arraignment was held Monday. He was arrested and brought to the Cole County Jail early Saturday. He has since posted a $25,000 bond, according to a press release.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4.
At around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, the Jefferson City Communications Center received a call to respond to the 200 block of East Commercial Way for an assault.
Responding officers found the Jacobs standing near the unconscious victim in the alleyway.
According to the probable cause statement, Jacobs was being escorted from the business by a bouncer --who is the alleged victim -- for failing to provide an ID to a bartender. Jacobs allegedly tried to buy alcohol multiple times without an ID. He was allegedly told by the bartender that he'd be escorted out of the building and police would be called.
While being removed, the Jacobs allegedly punched the bouncer two or three in the face, causing him to lose consciousness. The victim then fell to the ground and hit his head. Jacobs continued to hit them three or four more times once the bouncer was unconscious, according to the probable cause statement.
Witnesses and arriving officers subdued the suspect. EMS responded to the scene and evaluated the victim. He refused to be brought to a hospital by ambulance and said he would bring himself, according to the press release.
