No gun found in fight at Columbia restaurant

UPDATE 11/9: Police say no gun was found after a call of a disturbance with a gun Tuesday at the restaurant Popeye's restaurant on Business Loop 70 and no one was injured.

Two men were issued summonses for misdemeanors and released, police say.

Columbia police said Wednesday that the incident was a fight between two men with no gun involved.

ORIGINAL: Police officers took several people into custody Tuesday afternoon after a report of a disturbance involving a gun at a central Columbia fast food restaurant.

ABC 17 News saw at least five Columbia Police Department cruisers at Popeye's on Business Loop 70 at around 1 p.m. A police officer at the scene said officers took several people into custody during their investigation.

Investigators did not say what type of gun was involved or the number of people taken into custody.

The Columbia Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
